June TBR and Posting Plans

I’m so excited for my June TBR! I take part in 2 fun readathons over the summer – Book Trek and Summer Book Bingo. Book Trek is a Star Trek-themed readathon started by Revenant Reads on YouTube, which you can learn all about by following this link to his recent announcement video. And Summer Book Bingo is a summer-long reading event hosted by Beautiful Minutiae on YouTube, which you can learn all about by following this link to her recent announcement video. Basically, you take the bingo board:

…and you read books that apply to the prompts with the goal of scoring as many bingos as possible. Tiffany explains it much better in her video, so go check it out if you’re interested in playing along!

Book Trek 2025: In Search of Book Trek

For Book Trek this year, I plan to keep things simple and just read one Star Trek novel: A Stitch in Time by Andrew Robinson. For any Star Trek fans reading this, you might recognize the author’s name as the actor who played Garak in Star Trek: Deep Space Nine. He recently wrote a novelization of Garak’s life, and I’m so excited to read it! I’ll be listening to the audiobook, which he also narrates as Garak.

World LiteraTour Project

I’m also planning to get back into my World LiteraTour classics project in June. I put the whole thing on pause halfway through Ancient Egyptian month, so I still need to finish and analyze The Egyptian Book of the Dead and Writings from Ancient Egypt. I’m hoping to get into that in the second half of the month, so watch this space!

ARCs and New Release Reviews

I seem to be getting into the habit of reviewing one ARC per week, so I plan to continue that in June. The next ARCs on my list are Hidden Treasure by Jessie Burton, Reports of His Death Have Been Greatly Exaggerated by James Goodhand, Girl in the Creek by Wendy N. Wagner, The Locked Ward by Sarah Pekkanen, and Rope by Tim Queeney. I’m excited about all of them! I’m also hoping to review William by Mason Coile and Witchcraft for Wayward Girls by Grady Hendrix, which are new(-ish) releases.

Diplomatica and 100 Best Canadian Books

In a few days, I’ll be announcing a new reading project based on a world literature list published by Diplomatica, which will run in tandem, at least at first, with my 100 Best Canadian Books project. My hope is to read 2 great Canadian books in June for these projects: Ru by Kim Thúy and Unearthing by Kyo Maclear. More about that in the days ahead.

Reads in Progress

I still have a few books left to finish in May, but if I don’t complete them in the next 24 hours, I might need to continue them in June. Those books are Shark Heart by Emily Habeck, The Door by Magda Szabo, and Things Go Flying by Shari Lapena. I can’t count books I’ve started before June 1 towards Summer Book Bingo, so I’m gonna try to finish at least 2 before then!

Miscellaneous TBR

Finally, these are a few books that I hope to read and use towards my bingo board: This Cursed House by Del Sandeen, Chain-Gang All-Stars by Nana Kwame Adjei-Brenyah, Sacrilege by Nyasha Hatendi, Fear Street: The Secret by R.L. Stine, The Road Years by Rick Mercer, and The New Wilderness by Diane Cook.

If that sounds like a lot to read in one month, you’re absolutely right. And yes, I probably will pick up something random along the way and neglect some of these. But hey, that’s what we readers live for, isn’t it? That thrill of finding a book we didn’t know existed or hadn’t thought about in a while, and it turns out to be just what we needed in that moment? Live your best reading lives, my friends! I sure plan to.

Have a great summer, and happy reading!
